Where the data comes from and what the collection holds.

Transparency is what separates research you can trust from a well-written guess. Here we explain, plainly, where each decision and each law comes from, how far back the collection goes and what is not in it yet. We also explain where your own data lives.

Court and tribunal names, legal categories and the documents themselves remain in Portuguese.

01 Where it comes from

Official sources only, with the link back

Every decision and every law comes straight from its official source, and the answer carries the link so you can check it at the court itself or in the official gazette, whenever available. We do not use third-party aggregators: the origin is always the public body that published the act.

  • Case law: the official portals and systems of the courts themselves (STF, STJ, TST, TSE, TCU, STM, TNU, the regional federal courts (TRFs), the regional labor courts (TRTs), the regional electoral courts (TREs), the state courts (TJs), the audit courts (Tribunais de Contas) and the appeal panels of the federal small-claims courts).
  • Legislation: the Planalto portal (federal), state legislative assemblies and official gazettes, and official municipal sources. Never a private law repository.
  • Legal scholarship: open-access works, with the publication reference preserved.
02 What the collection holds

How far back it goes, by type of content

Case law (collegiate decisions, meaning decisions by a panel, chamber or full court, never by a single judge) has a starting point for each court, set by that court's electronic records. Legislation has no starting point: every law received by the 1988 Constitution and still in force is included, from any year. Qualified precedents (súmulas, general repercussion rulings, repetitive-case rulings and similar) are included from any year while they are in force.

03 What is not in yet

Where the collection is still growing

  • Case law currently focuses on collegiate decisions (by a panel, chamber or full court). Individual decisions by a single judge and first-instance judgments are not yet part of the collection used to support answers.
  • When a court or a period is still expanding, we flag it on screen, with the date of the next update. We never hide a gap or claim to have what we do not have yet.
04 How we count

Numbers you can check, against two baselines

When we say how much of a court is covered, we use two honest reference points: the source's own official count of decisions and the complete list of what it makes available. Never a generic case count in place of decisions. Coverage by court and by year is open for you to check.

Your data under Brazilian jurisdiction

Data hosted in Brazil

The database and search run in the São Paulo region. That means shorter waits for your searches and data under Brazilian jurisdiction, as provided by the LGPD, Brazil's data protection law.

Your conversations stay on our infrastructure

Your sessions and your history live on our servers in Brazil. Commercial AI models are used through an API under zero data retention: the provider keeps no sessions or conversations, and your data is not used to train those models.

  • In the MCP and plugin tools that search the collection, we do not store the full text of your search. Lex research (beta) keeps the conversation in your account: you can resume it for 7 days, and it is kept until you delete it in Studio.
  • On WhatsApp, the conversation is kept to build your history. It is linked to your account, and you can delete it whenever you want: WhatsApp only, or every channel at once. During the WhatsApp beta, this content is also used to improve the assistant; when the beta ends, it is deleted or anonymized. Your personal data is masked before any processing.
